My daughter shared a couple of minute-long videos via Telegram and used up my entire internet limit for the month.
It turns out it shoots 4K at 60 fps.
1.5 minute videos weigh more than 1 GB.
Remove media files from AUTODOWNLOAD in Telegram!
You need to leave autoload only for Wi-Fi networks.
Telegram offers detailed settings for auto-downloading media files (photos, videos, GIFs, music, etc.).
This means you can control where (chats, channels, groups) and over which internet connection (Wi-Fi, mobile data, roaming) certain media files will be automatically downloaded. This way, you can save mobile data and prevent accidental file downloads while roaming.
To do this, go to Settings and select “Data and disk”
Then find the "Media Auto-Download" section and select the type of files you want to customize (photos, voice messages, videos, GIFs, etc.).
You can configure individual settings for each type. For example, you can set photos to automatically download only from personal contacts over a mobile network, and from groups and channels over a Wi-Fi connection.
Additionally, you can set a maximum file size for audio and video files for automatic download. For example, you can set the maximum download size to 20 MB over a mobile network, 100 MB over Wi-Fi, and no downloads at all when roaming.
